Construction Begins on Wind Power Plant Gvozd

Construction work has officially started on the Gvozd Wind Power Plant, located in the Krnovo region of Montenegro. This new project is set to expand the country’s wind energy capacity significantly.
Main Content:
Since 2009, Green Gvozd d.o.o. has been assessing the wind energy potential in the Krnovo area, specifically around Gvozd and Jeinjak, with results indicating considerable wind resources suitable for energy production. The new Gvozd wind power plant will be located south of the Krnovo wind farm and span multiple areas, including Gvozd, Obešenjak, Oštrica, Bovec, Mašina, Jajin, Grakala, and Vlaško brdo.
The project will include the construction of a 33 kV underground cable network, optical cables, and transmission lines to connect the wind turbines to a new 33/110 kV substation at Gvozd. Additionally, new roads, crane pads, and foundations with grounding will be developed for turbine installation and maintenance. The wind farm will connect to Montenegro’s 110 kV power grid via the new Gvozd substation, linked to an upgraded Krnovo substation through a 110 kV transmission line, and to the Nikšić 1 (Željezara) substation by a separate 110 kV line.
The project spatial plan outlines a total of 16 wind turbines with a final installed capacity of up to 55 MW.
